Eight youths have now been charged after “appalling” disorder broke out in Fife involving as many as 50 youths.
Police were called to a disturbance involving a large group of youths on Stenhouse Road in Cowdenbeath at around 9pm on Thursday.
It came after police responded to reports of a fire being deliberately set in a grassy area near Pit Road around 5.30pm the same evening.
Footage shared on social media showed a number of police vehicles targeted by a large group near Aldi in the town.
In one clip, dozens of youths surround a police vehicle before officers are able to make off.
Police said they were engaged in proactive patrols following reports of antisocial behaviour the previous evening.
On Tuesday, officers said three more male youths had been charged in connection with the disorder, bringing the total number of people charged to eight.
One male youth and four female youths were previously charged in connection with this incident.
Chief inspector Christopher Dow said: “Our enquiries into these incidents remain extensive and ongoing, and further charges are expected as we continue to identify those involved. This behaviour was completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated in our community.
“I would like to thank local residents for their continued support and to acknowledge the parents and guardians who have spoken with their children over the weekend to reinforce the seriousness of this kind of behaviour.
“We remain committed to tackling antisocial behaviour and officers will continue to carry out targeted patrols in the area to provide reassurance and prevent further incidents.”
