A teenager has been arrested after allegedly being found with a weapon following a motorbike crash in Edinburgh.

The 17-year-old was taken to hospital with minor injuries following the incident involving a single off-road bike in the Greendykes area on Sunday evening.

Officers responding to the crash said the teenager was allegedly found in possession of an “offensive weapon” and was arrested.

He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date after being discharged from the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7.35pm on Sunday, September 17, a 17-year-old male youth crashed his off road motorcycle in Greendykes Road, Edinburgh.

“He was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh with minor injuries.

“A 17-year-old male youth was arrested in connection with alleged road traffic offences and of being in possession of an offensive weapon. He is expected to appear at court at a later date.

“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
