A number of streets in Edinburgh have been closed after the bomb squad was called days on from the discovery of “potentially hazardous substances” in a property.
Emergency services services were called to The Pleasance around 4.45pm on January 19 following reports of the substances found within a home.
An exclusion area was erected, and the affected building was evacuated. Residents who were told to leave their homes were provided with shelter.
The materials were deemed non-hazardous.
However, officers have since closed off The Pleasance, Cowgate, Guthrie Street, St Mary’s Street, Market Street and Holyrood to Queen’s Drive on Tuesday as part of their investigations.
A bomb disposal unit has been pictured on the scene.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “As part of enquiries into non-hazardous substances found at The Pleasance, Edinburgh on Sunday, January 19, The Pleasance, Cowgate – Guthrie Street, St Mary’s Street -Market Street & Holyrood to Queen’s Drive will be closed temporarily to allow investigations to continue.”
