Edinburgh Rugby has paid tribute to a fan who died following a medical emergency at Hive Stadium.
The 61-year-old woman took unwell shortly before kick-off at the United Rugby Championship match against Ulster on Friday evening.
Managing director Douglas Struth said that “despite the immediate and valiant efforts of first responders, the emergency services, and Edinburgh Rugby colleagues” during the first half of the match, the woman passed away at the stadium just before half-time.
Fans in the Main Stand were asked to remain seated during the first half of the game to allow access for emergency services and privacy for the individual involved.
In a statement, Douglas Struth said: “Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with their family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.
“We would like to thank all involved, the emergency services, Ulster Rugby, and our supporters for their hard-work, patience and understanding on the night.
“Once again, the thoughts of the entire Edinburgh Rugby community are with that supporter and their family.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.40pm on Friday, March 13, 2026, we received a report of the death of a 61-year-old woman at a sporting ground on Roseburn Street, Edinburgh.
“Her next of kin are aware.
“The death is not believed to be suspicious, and a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
