A flight from Edinburgh to Tenerife was met by police on the tarmac after a flight attendant was allegedly attacked by a disruptive passenger.

The Jet2 flight took off from the Scottish capital’s airport earlier on Friday before requesting medical and police assistance when it reached its final destination.

Spanish Air Control confirmed on X that the arrival of the flight was prioritised due to the onboard emergency.

The disruptive passenger was offloaded by officers after the flight came to a standstill.

Spanish Air Control wrote on X: “The crew requests medical assistance and police presence upon arrival due to a fight where, apparently, the flight attendant was assaulted.

“We prioritise shortening their approach to the maximum while coordinating ground assistance with the airport.

“All our support to the crew and passengers who have to endure these such unpleasant situations.”

A spokesperson said: “We can confirm that police were called to offload a disruptive passenger from flight LS739 earlier today.”
