A bank branch in Edinburgh’s city centre was “attacked with a hammer” in the early hours of the morning.
Police were called to Princes Street shortly after 4am on Monday to reports that the Barclays premises had been damaged.
The bank’s frontage, comprised of large glass panels, could be covered in cracks with a hole smashed through where the doors were.
STV News understands the damage was caused by a person wielding a hammer.
It is not known whether anything was stolen from the premises and police have launched an investigation.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 4.05am on Monday, May 23, to a report of damage at a business premises on Princes Street, Edinburgh.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
