A social care worker has been removed from the register after accessing a service user’s bank account and stealing more than £7,000.
Between July 27, 2020, and October 29, 2020, Lesley Horne utilised the bank card of an individual in their care to access their bank account at an ATM and take a total of £7,300 whilst working in Edinburgh.
The ex-social care worker was convicted of her actions at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on February 19, 2024.
The Scottish Social Services Council stated that Horne had violated “fundamental tenets of the profession in that it is an abuse of trust and confidence.”
The public report read: “The pattern of behaviour caused financial and emotional harm to a supported individual in your care.
“If the same, or similar, behaviour were to be repeated, vulnerable people would be placed at risk of harm.”
