A major Scottish road is closed while police clear the remains of a crash.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene on the Edinburgh Bypass shortly after 1.10pm on Tuesday following the incident on the A720, from the Sheriffhall roundabout.
Roads bosses have urged motorists to avoid the area at all costs, with one lane remaining out of use and travel times of more than an hour reported.
It is currently unknown whether anyone was injured in the collision, but officers and teams from the motorway recovery service are still on the scene.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.10pm on Tuesday, December 20, police received a report of a road crash on the A720 near to the Sheriffhall roundabout, Edinburgh City Bypass.
“Emergency services are at the scene and the A720 from the Sheriffhall roundabout, Edinburgh City Bypass towards the A1 is closed westbound.”
