A flight from Edinburgh circled over Stirling six times after a technical issue meant that the landing gear was reportedly stuck down.

British Airways flight BA1443 issued a squawk 7700 after pilots identified a technical issue following take-off from the capital.

According to flight tracking app AirNav Radar’s Flight Emergency account, the flight deck reported the “landing gear was stuck down”.

The plane, which was bound for London Heathrow, circled around Stirling before returning to Edinburgh Airport.

A British Airways spokesperson: “The aircraft returned to Edinburgh Airport safely after our pilots identified a technical issue after take-off.

“We’ve apologised to our customers for the disruption to their journey, and our teams are working hard to get them on their way as soon as possible.”
