A pensioner who died in a crash involving two cars in East Lothian has been named.
John Paul was killed in the collision involving his silver Nissan Pixo and a Volkswagen Passat on the A1 between Dunbar and Cockburnspath at around 3.05pm on Sunday, October 15.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene to treat the 87-year-old, from Duns, in the aftermath of the crash, while the road was closed as an initial investigation was carried out.
However he passed away at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh on Tuesday, police confirmed.
Officers are continuing to investigate the incident.
“Our thoughts and condolences are with John’s family at this difficult time. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision,” sergeant Barry Somerville said.
“Our enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident and who hasn’t already spoken to officers to get in touch.”
He added: “I would also appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time and who may have dash-cam footage which could assist to contact us.”
