‘Drug related incident’ leaves three 14-year-old girls in Livingston hospital as teenage boy charged SAS

Three schoolgirls were taken to hospital after taking unwell following a “drug related incident” in West Lothian.

At around 4.30pm on Tuesday, September 19, police were called to reports of two 14-year-old girls having taken unwell near Eastwood Park in the Deans area of Livingston.

Both girls were taken to St John’s Hospital and a third 14-year-old girl was traced nearby and also attended hospital as a precaution.

A 15-year-old boy was charged in connection with the incident, understood to be drugs related, and a report will be submitted to the relevant authorities.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 4.30pm on Tuesday September 19 2023 to attend an incident near Deans Community High School, Livingston. 

“Two ambulances were dispatched to the scene and two patients were transported to St John’s Hospital.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.35pm on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, we were made aware of two teenagers having taken unwell near Eastwood Park, Deans, Livingston. 

“Emergency services attended and the females, both aged 14, were taken to St John’s Hospital. Another 14-year-old female was also traced nearby and attended hospital as a precaution. 

“A 15-year-old male youth has been charged in connection with the incident and a report will be submitted to the relevant authorities.”
