Drivers have been warned of “severe delays” after a crash blocked part of the M8 during the morning rush hour.
The collision on the busy motorway occurred near junction one, at Hermiston Gait, at around 7.45am.
Drivers have been warned of delays of more than an hour following the accident.
Congestion is going back to Livingston along the M8 and also back to Winchburgh on the M9, while a mile of queues has been reported on the M90.
An update from Traffic Scotland read: “The M8 is restricted EB on approach to Hermiston Gait due to a collision
“Lane 3 (of 3) remains closed. Delays of over an hour on the M8 approach and approximately 45 mins from the M9.
“Alt routes recommended. Updates to follow”
