Drivers faced nearly hour-long delays at rush hour on a road connecting the M8 to the M9.
Traffic Scotland confirmed a failure of traffic lights affecting all approaches to Newbridge Roundabout was reported around 7am on Tuesday.
Drivers on the M8, A8 and M9 faced lengthy delays, with a 52-minute wait felt on the M8 Junction 4 to the M9.
Images on the road showed a number of vehicles backed up with heavy congestion.
No delays were reported heading southbound on the M9.
In an update after 8.35am, Traffic Scotland said the lights were operational after being down for over an hour and a half.
Traffic was said to return to “normal” around 8.45am.
