A driver was arrested after an “eagle-eyed” member of the public spotted him “stumbling around” while trying to change a tyre.
Officers were called to the scene at Strawberry Corner Garden Centre near Dunbar at around 11.10pm on Tuesday, March 14.
The 40-year-old failed a breathalyser test and then provided false details for cancellation of driving, according to a tweet by Road Policing Scotland.
He was arrested and appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Wednesday, March 15.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 11.10pm on Tuesday, March 14, to a report of driver acting suspiciously at Strawberry Corner Garden Centre near Dunbar on the A199.
“Officers attended and the driver, a 40-year-old man, was arrested and charged in connection with road traffic offences. He was due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Wednesday, March 15.”
