A Delta flight was forced to land at Edinburgh Airport on Sunday due to an issue with the floor heater.

The DL21 from London Heathrow to Seattle issued an emergency squawk after crews reported a potential mechanical issue, prompting the plane to divert to the Scottish airport.

The 183 passengers onboard were provided with hotel accommodation and meals for the evening.

They are due to be reallocated onto a new flight

A Delta spokesperson said: “Delta flight 21 from London Heathrow to Seattle diverted to Edinburgh where it landed normally following a reported mechanical issue.

“At Delta, nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and crew. We apologise to our customers for the delay in their travels.”
