Defibrillator stolen from ambulance during Falkirk emergency call out as appeal launched Scottish Ambulance Service

UPDATE: Police Scotland have recovered the stolen defibrillator, said the Scottish Ambulance Service.

A defibrillator was stolen from a Scottish Ambulance Service vehicle during an emergency call-out.

As crews responded to an emergency situation in the Hallglen area of Falkirk at around 2.10pm on Thursday, the piece of equipment was taken.

Paramedics said lives are being put at risk by those who took the equipment and using it incorrectly can cause “serious harm.”

Anyone with information on its current location is asked to contact Police Scotland by calling 101 and quoting incident number 2157.

A Scottish Ambulance Service post read: “A defibrillator was taken from one of our vehicles in the Hallglen area of Falkirk at 2.10pm on Thursday whilst a crew was responding to an emergency call.

“Our defibrillators are vital pieces of lifesaving equipment, used for when people are in cardiac arrest, and special training is required to use them.

“The people who have taken this equipment are putting others lives at risk, and using our defib incorrectly could result in serious harm.”
