Google MapsA secondary school pupil has died after falling unwell on a bus in Fife.
The incident unfolded while senior pupils from Beath High School were travelling to Fife College in Dunfermline for a course during lunchtime.
The 15-year-old boy fell ill at around 1.15pm and was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a letter sent to parents, the school confirmed that the “situation deteriorated rapidly” and an ambulance was called before the pupil passed away.
They stated the school community will come together “to pay tribute and remember the young person”.
Headteacher Stephen Ross said that support is being made available to the pupils affected by the incident.
He said: “We are all devastated by this news, and our thoughts are very much with the family and loved ones at this sensitive and difficult time.
“We are looking after our young people and arranging support across the school community, providing space, time and help to those who need it.”
Investigators are treating the death as unexplained and an enquiries are ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.45pm on Monday, 24 November, 2025, we received a report that a 15-year-old male had taken unwell on a bus at A92 Halbeath roundabout, Dunfermline.
“Emergency services attended, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
“His next of kin have been made aware.”
“His death is being treated as unexplained, and enquiries are ongoing.”
