Death of man, 50, found on street treated as 'unexplained'

The death of a man found on a street on Sunday is being treated as “unexplained”.

Emergency services were called to Melrose Road in Galashiels after the body of a 50-year-old was found at around 8.15am.

Investigators are currently treating the death as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing.

The road has since reopened.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.15am on Sunday, February 16, 2025, the body of a 50-year-old man was found on Melrose Road, Galashiels.

“The death is being treated as unexplained, and enquiries are continuing.

“Melrose Road has since re-opened.”
