A cyclist has been left injured after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run.

The crash took place at the junction of Cotland Way and Garbett Place in Falkirk on Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency services attended the scene after the incident was reported at around 2.15pm.

An ambulance and an air ambulance were deployed to the area and a man was transported to Forth Valley Hospital for treatment.

The vehicle involved in the collision left the scene and police are appealing for witnesses as they look to establish the full circumstances.

The road was closed off as investigations took place and officers remain in the area.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.15pm on Wednesday we were called to a report of a crash involving a vehicle and a male cyclist at the junction of Cotland Way and Garbett Place, Falkirk.

“The vehicle left the scene.

“Emergency services attended and the cyclist was taken to hospital for treatment.

“Officers remain in the area and enquiries are ongoing.
