A cyclist is in hospital after being struck by a motorbike in a suspected hit-and-run crash in Edinburgh.

The 52-year-old man was cycling along Ferry Road at around 5pm on Sunday when a motorcyclist travelling in the same direction collided with him.

The cyclist suffered serious injuries, however the biker failed to stop after the crash.

Police are treating the incident as a hit-and-run.

Officers say the motorbike is possibly red and the rider was wearing protective clothing.

Police have appealed for anyone in the area at the time of the incident to get in touch, including any drivers with dash cams.

Sergeant Jill Kirkpatrick said: “I would urge the motorcyclist involved to come forward. I am also appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident.

“If any motorists have dash cams, please check your footage as it could assist our enquiries. Officers are also reviewing CCTV footage from in and around the area for any further information on the motorcyclist.”

Anyone with information can call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2739 of June 13, 2021.
