A man has been assaulted and robbed of his bicycle during an early morning attack in West Lothian.

The 22-year-old was cycling through an underpass between Almondvale East Road and Almondvale Drive in Livingston at around 3am on Friday when the incident took place.

He was approached by two men who asked for a cigarette before punching him in the face and making off with the blue Apollo Phase bike which has a 20in frame and is worth a three figure sum.

Both suspects are described as being white and in their late 20s.

One had ginger hair and an athletic build. At the time of the incident he was wearing a black t-shirt and puffer style jacket.

Officers investigating the attack are appealing for information as they look to trace those responsible.

Detective Sergeant Lee McCall, of Livingston CID, said: “Fortunately the man did not require medical treatment but was left shocked by what happened.

“We are appealing to anyone who may have seen anything before and after the assault to get in touch. Likewise, if you know who these men might be please contact us.”
