Couple turn garden into Ibiza-inspired nightclub in lockdown

Laura Harmes and Mike Braid, from Fife, spent around £2000 on the bar to enjoy outside their own home.

A couple used the coronavirus lockdown to build their very own Ibiza nightclub – in their back garden.

Inspired by famed club night Glitterbox on the Spanish party island, the glam white bar, which cost just under £2000, is kitted out with booze and cocktail equipment.

Laura Harmes, 42, and partner Mike Braid, 50, from Kirkcaldy, Fife, came up with the idea before Christmas – but it was the lockdown which gave them the opportunity to finish it.

They finally got to enjoy it when the lockdown eased off in Scotland – coinciding with Mike’s 50th birthday celebrations.

And it even came to the attention of the Ibiza club, which sent them a message of appreciation.

Dad-of-two Mike said: “We have been to this club in Ibiza many times over the years. We all have a great love for Ibiza.

“It’s got a double fridge at the end of the bar, with beers, cocktails, spirits, and a draught beer machine.

“It’s turned out really well. It went viral and has just gone crazy.

“We’ve had comments from DJs saying ‘can we come and perform in your garden?’.

“Glitterbox emailed as well saying it was fab – they’re really taken with it.”
