Climate campaigners have deflated the tyres of 60 SUVs in Edinburgh – the eighth time that action has been taken in the city by the group.
The Tyre Extinguishers targeted vehicles in the Marchmont and Bruntsfield areas overnight.
Activists argue that SUVs are a “climate disaster”, as well as being “dangerous” and “unnecessary”.
In a statement published on Tuesday morning, along with photographs of cars that had their tyres deflated, the group said there is “no need to own a tank in Edinburgh”, with good public transport links.
They added: “The Tyre Extinguishers want to see bans on SUVs in urban areas, pollution levies to tax SUVs out of existence, and massive investment in free, comprehensive public transport.
“But until politicians make this a reality, Tyre Extinguishers action will continue.”
