A person has died following a “serious medical emergency” during a church service in Dunfermline.
Emergency services were called to the Holy Trinity Dunfermline Scottish Episcopal Church on East Port on Sunday morning.
According to the church on social media, a member of the congregation suffered a “serious medical emergency”.
However, despite emergency crews’ efforts, the person was pronounced dead.
The church was forced to cancel Sunday’s service.
A statement on social media said: “We would like to record our thanks to the multiple paramedic teams and Police who attended for everything they did, and to the members of the congregation who assisted until the paramedics arrived, and who supported those involved.
“We would ask for prayers for all of those involved, and particularly the family and friends of the person who has passed away. May they rest in peace and rise in glory”
Police and SAS have been contacted for further comment.
