A five-year-old was left in hospital after being struck by a car outside a school in Edinburgh.

Emergency services were called to reports of a crash on Old Groathill Road North at around 2.50pm on Monday.

A five-year-old child was taken to the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People to be checked over.

Their current condition is unknown at this stage.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 2.50pm on Monday, June 3, to a report of a crash on Old Groathill Road North in Edinburgh involving a child and a car.

“Emergency services attended and the five-year-old child was taken to the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People to be checked over.”
