Police in the capital have released an image of the woman they believe may be able to assist them.

Police have released a CCTV image of a woman after a van was stolen and thousands of pounds worth of clothes were shoplifted in Edinburgh.

On Saturday, a red Ford transit van was reported stolen from Craigleith Crescent in the city.

At around 4.20pm, around £3,000 worth of clothing was stolen from a store on George Street and there was also a report of dangerous driving.

Police in the capital have released an image of the woman they believe may be able to assist them as part of their ongoing enquiries.

The female is described as white, in her 40s with brown hair. She was seen wearing a green jacket.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Enquiries are ongoing into this incident. If you recognise the woman or were in the area at the time please make contact with us.

Anyone who can assist is asked to contact Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 2291 of November 25.
