A busy area of Edinburgh’s Old Town was locked down on Wednesday after reports of a suspicious package.
Police and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were called to Teviot Place at around 11.40am.
Emergency services established that there was no danger to the public and recovered the package.
Police said that enquiries into the incident were ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 11.40am on Wednesday, August 9, to a report of a suspect package in the Teviot Place area of Edinburgh.
“Emergency services attended and it was established there was no danger to the public.
“The package has been recovered and enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances.”
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were called to assist emergency service partners at an incident on Teviot Place, Edinburgh at 11.51am on Wednesday, August 9.
“Operations Control mobilised two fire appliances and a specialist resource vehicle to the incident.
“Crews left the scene at 2.20pm after ensuring the area was safe.”
