A British Airways flight to Edinburgh was met by fire services after it made an emergency landing on Friday.

Flight BA2216 departed London City Airport at 9.40am and was due in the Scottish capital by 11am.

However, the plane was diverted to Prestwick Airport following reports of a technical issue.

STV understands that fire crews were deployed to the runway as part of standard procedure when a plane reports an issue.

Passengers disembarked the flight and alternative transport was arranged to ensure they arrived in Edinburgh.
