A nine-year-old boy is in a serious condition in hospital after a car “lost control” and crashed in the Scottish Borders.
Emergency services were called to the crash on the A697 near Lauder around 8.40pm involving a white Toyota Alphard.
The car was travelling on the A697, between Houndslow and Whiteburn, when it appeared to lose control and leave the road.
A 40-year-old woman and two boys, aged seven and nine, were taken to hospital.
Medical staff describe the nine-year-old’s condition as serious.
The road was closed to allow for investigation to take place.
Sergeant Chris Bright from Road Policing said: “We are continuing our enquiries to ascertain the circumstances of the crash.
“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident to contact us with any information.
“If you have dash-cam equipment, please check for any relevant images which could assist our enquiries.”
