Boy, 14, charged over alcohol robbery which left man in hospital

A man and a woman were threatened by a group of young people on a pedestrian bridge on Cuddyside.

A 14-year-old boy has been charged after a man was robbed of alcohol and left injured in Peebles.

The man, aged 42, and a woman, aged 54, were threatened by a group of young people on a pedestrian bridge on Cuddyside, towards March Street, at around 10.05pm on July 7.

The man was then assaulted and a quantity of alcohol was stolen.

He attended Borders General Hospital and received treatment to a number of injuries.

Officers confirmed that the woman was uninjured.

On Tuesday, Lothian and Borders police confirmed that a 14-year-old boy was charged in connection with the incident.

A report will be sent to the Children’s reporter, and enquiries are ongoing.
