A man who approached a teenage girl in his car on a street in the Scottish Borders is being hunted by police.
The 15-year-old was left unhurt, but shaken by the incident in Galashiels on the morning of Thursday, May 12.
The white 4×4, thought to be a Nissan, drew up alongside the schoolgirl on Melrose Road towards Gattonside between 9.45am and 10.45am before a man leant out the window and attempted to engage her in conversation.
He was described as being in his late 20s to late 30s with ginger hair and a ginger beard.
The man was thought to be wearing a light blue t-shirt at the time of the incident.
Officers say no criminality has been established, but they are interested in speaking to the man to establish the full circumstances.
Police sergeant Dale Hadden of Galashiels Police Station: “We think the vehicle was a white jeep style car, possibly a Nissan. The vehicle was travelling east from Galashiels in the direction of Gattonside.
“The girl was shocked but unhurt by the incident. Nonetheless officers want to speak to the driver of the car to establish the circumstances.”
Sgt Hadden added: “I would ask that anyone who was in the area around that time and saw the vehicle, to get in touch with us, also if anyone has dash cam footage that could assist our enquiries we would like to hear from you.”
