The bomb squad was called to an Edinburgh harbour on Friday after an unexploded ordnance device was found.
Emergency services were informed of the discovery at around 10.30pm in the Firth of Forth near to the city’s Western Harbour.
The device was found after a boat was dredging the water. The vessel was evacuated as a precaution.
An area has been taped off to allow for a controlled explosion.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10.30pm on Friday, December 27, 2024 we received a report that an unexploded ordnance device had been discovered in the Firth of Forth near to Western Harbour.
“The device was discovered after a boat was dredging the water. The boat was evacuated as a precaution.
“HM Coastguard and EOD were contacted.
“An exclusion zone has been put in place to allow for a controlled explosion.”
