The body of a woman has been pulled from the water at a harbour in East Lothian, sparking an investigation into an “unexplained” death.

Officers have launched an investigation following the discovery of the 39-year-old at Port Seton on Tuesday morning.

Police Scotland personnel, supported by colleagues from the Scottish Ambulance Service, attended.

Investigators said enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the death were ongoing, but it was not thought to be suspicious.

A spokesperson for the force said: “We were called around 6.50am on Tuesday, July 18, to a report of a body in the water at the harbour, Port Seton.

“Emergency services attended and a 39-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The death is currently being treated as unexplained but not believed to be suspicious. A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
