Police discovered the corpse of a woman on Cramond Island, near Queensferry, on Monday around 2.50pm.

Officers issued multiple appeals to trace her and said they were growing increasingly concerned for her welfare.

Enquires to identify the body are ongoing and police remain at the scene.

Officers previously said Ms Shepley may have hailed a taxi to Queensferry Road on the night she disappeared.

Cramond Island is connected to the mainland by a causeway at low tide and is popular for walks and exploring World War II structures.

Visit Scotland’s website warns visitors to be aware of tides which can pose a risk of leaving people stranded on the island.
