A 59-year-old man was pronounced dead in the Primrose Street area of Edinburgh on Tuesday.

An arrest has been made after a man was found dead having suffered serious injuries near an Edinburgh school.

Emergency services were called to reports of an injured man in the Primrose Street area near Leith Academy at around 2.30pm on Tuesday.

A 59-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following an investigation, a 54-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death.

Enquiries into the incident remain ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.30pm on Tuesday, June 6, we were called to a report of a man injured in the Primrose Street area of Edinburgh. Emergency services attended and the 59-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“A 54-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
