Two people have been arrested after police were called to reports of men with a gun in Edinburgh, before a flat fire was discovered.

Police were called to reports of men seen in possession of what appeared to be a firearm on Loganlea Terrace around 5.30pm on Thursday.

Emergency services, including armed police, arrived on the scene and found a property on fire.

Six fire engines were sent to tackle the blaze, with one appliance remaining on the scene into Friday.

There were no reports of any injuries, and enquiries are ongoing to establish the cause of the fire.

Following further enquiries, two men aged 22 and 29 were arrested in connection with drug offences.

No weapons were recovered.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Around 5.30pm on Thursday, August 7, 2025, we received a report of men seen in possession of what appeared to be a firearm on Loganlea Terrace, Edinburgh.

“Emergency services attended and found a property on fire.

“There were no reports of any injuries.

“Following further enquiries, two men aged 22 and 29 were arrested in connection with drug offences, and enquiries are ongoing. No weapons were recovered.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the cause of the fire.”
