Police are working to identify a man who died after being struck by a car in Grangemouth.
Emergency services were called to a crash involving a Ford Fiesta and a male pedestrian on Newlands Road at around 11.15pm on Monday.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives are now working to identify him.
The 35-year-old male driver of the car was taken to hospital as a precaution and arrested in connection.
The road was closed to allow enquiries to be carried out and re-opened around 6am on Tuesday.
Sergeant Michael Shillington said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to ID the man who died and to establish the full circumstances of this crash and I am appealing for anyone who witnessed it to contact us.
“We are looking to trace the driver of a vehicle that initially stopped at the scene but left before police arrival.
“I would also ask anyone who was in the area and many have dash cam or private CCTV footage that could assist to contact us.”
