An appeal for information has been launched after a fire ripped through a derelict building in Dunfermline.

Emergency services attended the scene on Walmer Drive for more than eight hours.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) was called out to the incident at around 8.51pm on Monday night and did not leave the scene until after 4am on Tuesday.

No injuries were reported as a result.

Police were called at around 9.15pm on Monday and have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the blaze.

Walmer Drive remains closed while East Port – which was previously shut off – is now open.

Inspector Neil McGurk said: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

“If anyone was in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious then please get in touch with us.

“Likewise, if you have dash-cam or private CCTV footage that could assist with our enquiries.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3690 of July 17.
