An American doctor has died in Edinburgh after being struck by a van on a street.
Emergency services were called to Trinity Crescent around 5.50pm on Wednesday, April 10, after a 58-year-old man was struck by a white Citroen Relay van.
He was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, where he died on Monday evening as a result of his injuries.
The man has since been identified as Doctor William Noel from Philadelphia.
The driver of the van, a 40-year-old man, was arrested in connection with the incident. He has since been released pending further enquiries.
Police Scotland had previously appealed for a female nurse who came to Dr Noel’s aid to come forward.
She has since been identified and assisted with enquiries, which remain ongoing.
