A large part of the building including the dining hall has suffered damage and the school has been closed until further notice.

Fife Council said: “A decision has now been taken to close the whole school to pupils tomorrow.

“The fire is still burning but appears to be contained to the DAS unit and dining hall. Hopefully there will be little damage to the main building but until we can be sure pupils need to stay at home until further notice.”

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: “We have six appliances plus supporting officers in attendance.”
