A car was left hanging over a verge after veering off a road and crashing through railings.

Police were called at around 7.20am on Wednesday after reports of a vehicle coming off Duddingston Low Road in Edinburgh, next to Arthur's Seat.

The incident happened near the entrance to the Innocent Railway Tunnel, which is now used by cyclists and runs below the road at the edge of Holyrood Park.

No one was injured, however, there was traffic disruption during rush hour as the road was closed while arrangements were made to recover the car.

The fire service attended and a crane was used to retrieve the vehicle from the edge of the bank.

Chris Harrison had just come out of the tunnel on his morning cycle to work when he came across debris on the ground.

He said: "I initially saw the boulders on the path and when I looked up I saw the police lights and a car hanging over the edge."
