A pedestrian who was knocked down and killed has been named by police.

Dennis Gay, 62, was hit by a red Suzuki Swift on Drum Brae Drive in the Corstorphine area of Edinburgh at around 10.30pm on Saturday.

His family have paid tribute to him in a statement released by police, which reads: "Dennis was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandad and brother who touched the hearts of all who knew him.

"He was the life and soul of the party who will be sorely missed."

Officers are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to contact them.
