An armed robber threatened staff with a knife during a raid at a bookmakers.

The man targeted William Hill Bookmakers in Castlemilk, Glasgow, on Monday afternoon.

He made off with a two-figure sum of money after threatening two men who worked at the shop.

Strathclyde Police said the workers were left uninjured but "badly shaken" after the incident at 5.30pm in Castlemilk Road.

Detective Constable Michael Fleck of the robbery unit at Gorbals Police Office said: "Officers are continuing to carry out enquiries in the local area and study CCTV footage in an effort to gather more information on the man responsible for this robbery."

The robber is described as between 30 and 40 years old, 5ft 8in and of slim build. He was wearing a black beanie hat with a black and blue scarf which he pulled up over his face.

He was also wearing a black waterproof jacket with a white logo on the left sleeve, denim jeans, black gloves and was carrying a black bin bag.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen the robber acting suspiciously in the area around the time of the incident to contact Gorbals Police Office on 0141 532 5353.
