The region famous for its Gretna Green weddings has been has been named as one of the most romantic places in the UK.
Loved-up residents in Dumfries and Galloway were found to send the most Valentine's Day cards after Royal Mail analysed volumes in its centres last year, comparing post sent on February 6 and February 13.
The Carlisle mail centre, which services Dumfries and Galloway as well as Cumbria, saw the largest percentage increase at 32%.
Residents in Cardiff's CF post code area saw a 30% increase, followed by those in London, Norwich and Kent.
Carlisle Mail Centre manager Vivienne Dalton said: "I'm delighted to declare people of Cumbria alongside Dumfries and Galloway as the most romantic places in the UK.
"Valentine's Day is a busy time for us so we would remind people to send their cards in good time so we can deliver your message to your loved one in time for February 14."
