Pensioner dies and two others in hospital following crash on A736

A pensioner has died following a crash on a Glasgow road.

The accident happened at around 3.40pm on the A736 on Lochlibo Road, in Barrhead, on Thursday.

Two other women are in hospital following the smash.

A spokesman for Strathclyde Police said: “A 69-year-old woman was driving a Honda vehicle when she collided with a Peugeot being driven by a 61-year-old woman.

“Both women and a 71-year-old female passenger in the Peugeot were taken by ambulance to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley for treatment to serious injuries.

“The 69-year-old woman sadly died a short time later.”

The other two women are in the Royal Alexandra Hospital where their condition is described as “stable”.

The force is appealing for any witnesses to the accident to contact them.
