Family and police 'increasingly concerned' for missing woman's safety

The family of a missing 49-year-old woman are "increasingly concerned" for her safety, police said.

Lavina McKnight was last seen leaving her home at Whamond Tower, Motherwell at around 10am on Thursday.

UPDATE Police issued a statement on Sunday confirming Ms McKnight has been found safe and well.

Although police believe Ms McKnight might have checked into a hotel since disappearing, there have been no confirmed sightings of her since.

She is described as 4 ft 9 inches in height, of slim/frail build and with ash/grey hair.

When Ms McKnight was last seen she was wearing a short grey jacket with a fur hood and was carrying a brown shoulder bag.

Police and family members are becoming increasingly concerned for her safety.
