£170,000 cannabis and cocaine seized by police in raids

Cannabis and cocaine worth £170,000 have been seized in two police raids.

Four people were arrested as a result of the recovery of the drugs in Lanarkshire.

A house in Glendale Avenue, Airdrie, was searched under warrant at around 12.30pm on Wednesday.

Police said cannabis with an estimated street value of £15,000 was recovered and a four figure sum of cash was seized.

A 42-year-old man was arrested and is detained in police custody as a result of the drugs raid. He is expected to appear at Airdrie Sheriff Court on Thursday.

Later on Wednesday, police raided a property in Underwood Road, Newmains, where they recovered cocaine worth an estimated £80,000 and £75,000 of cannabis.

Two men, aged 30 and 34, and a 30-year-old woman have been arrested as a result of the drug recovery.

They are expected to appear from custody at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Friday.
