Police are probing reports a man was seen parachuting into Glasgow city centre in the middle of the night.

The man was spotted by a passing motorist and is believed to have landed in North Hanover Street, near to its junction with Dobbies Loan.

Police received the report shortly after midnight on Thursday and an investigation is ongoing.

A spokeswoman said: "Around 12.30am on Thursday, police received a report of a parachute landing in North Hanover Street, Glasgow.

"Enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances."
