Hundreds of runners gathered in a Glasgow park on Valentine's Day morning for the British Heart Foundation's Winter Warmer.

More than 700 people undertook 5k or 10k runs at Pollok Country Park to raise money for the charity.

Over the last decade, the number of people being diagnosed with coronary heart disease has fallen by almost 30%. But it still remains Scotland's biggest killer.

The most recent figures from the charity show more than 15,000 people die from the disease every year.

Nina Coy, British Heart Foundation Scotland's local fundraising manager, said: "We're currently funding over £19m worth of research into cardiovascular disease here in Glasgow and we can only make that happen thanks to the people who raise money for us.

"Every single walker and runner who gets sponsored is helping to save lives."
