Police investigating the death of a young man have returned to a nightclub where he was involved in a fight hours before he was found dead.

The body of Robert Fleming, 21, was discovered at his home in Lammermuir Road, Kilmarnock, at around 2pm on Sunday February 7.

Officers have established that he was involved in an altercation outside Baker's nightclub in John Finnie Street in the East Ayrshire town at around 1am on the Sunday. He then made his way home where he was later found dead, police believe.

Officers were on John Finnie Street between the hours 11pm on Saturday and 2am on Sunday to speak to revellers and passing motorists in a bid find more information about the altercation.

Detective chief inspector Allan Burton said: "Officers spoke with over 50 people in an effort to identify potential witnesses. Our enquiries had established that Robert was involved in an altercation outside Baker’s nightclub in John Finnie Street between the hours of 12.30am and 1.00am on Sunday 7 February.

"We are thankful to those members of the public who took the time to speak with officers to help us achieve the full picture of the circumstances surrounding his death.

"It is possible that as we follow up on the information provided to us by members of the public, officers will determine new lines of enquiry which will be of assistance in our investigation. We will continue to progress all lines of enquiry and we continue to seek the assistance of the public."
